Liz's love of colour is evident in all her work. Starting from stained glass her interests quickly spread to glass fusing, a less restricted form of expression within the glass media.
An interest in archaeology, and the history of jewellery making, led to experimentation with Viking knitting, and later the use of metal clays to design unique pendants. The use of enamels, dyes and inks introduces a wide spectrum of colour, dislike of straight lines and an appreciation of the beauty of the natural world provides a never ending source of inspiration.
Pottery... Aka Clay therapy! No experience necessary - just a wish to make mud pies.
We use stoneware clay, which ensures that everything you make is truly frost proof, freezer safe, oven safe and dishwasher safe. The clay we use is very smooth and white. You have the opportunity to do both hand built pottery and pots thrown on the potter’s wheel.
Colour is one of Susan’s addictions and she has a wide variety of colours of glaze for you to apply to your work.
Susan fires the pottery, in her kiln at home, to 12600 C - HOT!!!
Pottery is £12 per 2 hour session, plus the cost of what you make by weight - it won’t break the bank and it encourages students to produce more lightweight items!
You can join the class at any stage of the year, as Susan does not work to school terms. You are welcome whether a beginner or have some experience. Susan treats everyone as an individual so everyone produces very different work.
